Community Land Scotland – Owning Our Future: Filmmaking

Covid 19 has had a massive impact on so many aspects of our day to day lives. It has affected us as individuals, communities, nations and globally.

Community Land Scotland, funded by National Lottery Community Fund’s Emerging Futures, has been looking at how communities with community owned assets are coping with the impact of Covid 19 and looking to see how they would like to build a sustainable roadmap for the future in light of this year’s experiences.

There are 6 communities exploring this together under the Owning Our Future project.

Viewpark Conservation Group (North Lanarkshire)

Coigach Community Development Company (Wester Ross)

South West Mull and Iona Development

Kinning Park Complex (Glasgow)

Urras Oighreachd Ghabhsainn (Lewis)

Peebles Community Trust (Scottish Borders)

Part of this project is a short film which shows the communities’ experiences from their own perspectives.

As the project filmmaker I’m offering free filmmaking workshops for community members of these 6 trusts to develop their filmmaking skills, so that their voices can be heard.

The community filmmaking sessions will run throughout the length of the project on Zoom.

The sessions last one hour and will take place at 11.00 and 19.00 on:

Thur 19th Nov

Mon 30th Nov

Thur 3rd Dec

Mon 7th Dec

Thur 10th Dec

More sessions will be added as the project develops.
If you’re interested in the filmmaking aspect of this project you only need to come along to one of the sessions. If you want a top up at any time do contact me on info@alsatch.com and I’ll happily schedule more time with you.

If you’re taking part in the course here’s a link to a folder of resources that you may find useful: Community Filmmaking Resources

The deadline for short film submissions is Fri 12th of February. Please have any footage in to me by the end of the day.
