Kintyre Animation Project – CPH

Campbeltown Picture House and Screen Argyll, are working with a wide array of funders to offer each primary school in Kintyre a foundation course in animation.

There are at least 5 sessions per school, where the children and teachers explore the world of animation to see how they can use it in the development of their own communication skills.  As part of the sessions we work with Jim Parkyn of Screen Argyll and Aardman on model making.  This is always a real highlight.

The children’s films are then screened at the cinema and in their communities.

I really love working on this project as it embeds both the language of cinema and the sense of ownership of a community space  – Campbeltown Picture House – in the participants.

We also employ Eoin Bruce, a young local filmmaker to work with us on the delivery of these sessions.  Eoin started with us as a student on Screen Argyll’s BFI Film Academy, so to be able to offer him work and have him alongside us is a great pleasure.
