Made By The Sea

A collaboration between curator and archivist Shona Thomson, Regional Screen Scotland, who operate The Screen Machine, and myself, Made By The Sea is a film education project that takes place in Barra, Ullapool and Tobermory.

Using archive footage specific to each community, selected by Shona, I guide the participants through techniques to develop their own filmmaking practice, and generate new material for archives of the future.

The project works with both school and community groups.  We have contact sessions where Shona and I work with the groups, and then online sessions where we meet up virtually and feed back on each other’s work, leading to a final screening at the Screen Machine in each community.

Made by the Sea is funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
