Screen Argyll

A lot of my work these days is through a company that three friends and I founded a few years ago.
Screen Argyll comprises of Jen Skinner, Jack Lockhart, Jim Parkyn and myself.
We also have Bill Lawrence as part of the executive team and Brodie Sim as our outreach and learning officer, whose position is kindly supported by Screen Scotland.
We have an office over on Tiree, where Jen, Jack and Brodie are based. Jim is based in Dunoon and I’m here on Mull, so our spread is Argyll wide.
Screen Argyll works in film exhibition and education and is very adaptable in its operations.
We support community film societies with programming options and access to new and different films.
Our signature film festival Sea Change, which Jen leads, celebrates women in film and takes place on Tiree every year.
Our main educational focus is our Animation Academy, for anyone aged 16 – 25 years old. We’ve been running this for several years now and have a graduate network that we’ve recently got funding to support, once again from Screen Scotland. This course runs online and the graduate network will have two annual meet ups in various places in Argyll. In 2025 this is Dunoon for Dunoon Film Festival and in Campbeltown at the Campbeltown Picture House.
I’m currently leading a block of teachers’ CPD sessions on how to use film in the class room across all subjects. In the near future I’ll be piloting an emotional literacy through film project for schools, inspired by the work of Marshall Rosenberg’s Non Violent Communication, which I’ve been developing with Jenny England.
If there’s anything that you think Screen Argyll can do for you, please feel free to drop us a line.
